Summer Hair Tips from Oliver at The Hair Salon

If your flights are booked, bikinis packed and you’re wondering what to do with your hair on holiday, salon owner Oliver shares his summer hair tips and emphasises turning up the TLC while you’re out of office.

Oliver’s Summer Hair Tips:

Tip One: Light ‘em up
If you’re looking to lighten your locks before jetting off, just get a top-up of your usual colour before you go. The sun is going to lift it anyway, just book the works when you get back. Having a bonding treatment and a hydrating masque when you return is the perfect way to tone down any unwanted rawness.

Tip Two: No ties
Make sure you’re not using a band that’s ripping your hair. Braid your hair for the beach or pool and take a scarf or hat. If you can shield your hair from the sun, the less damage it’s going to suffer. And don’t be afraid of the scrunchy – they are a lot kinder to your hair.

Tip Three: Dodge the damage
Hotel shampoo, chlorine, salt water, sand – all the staples of a summer getaway, but they can be central to hair damage. Be sure to pack sun protection spray for your hair, a wide-tooth comb and a hydrating or strengthening shampoo and conditioner. Invest in a travel pack to keep your holiday hair at its best – I love Kevin Murphy Travel Minis.
