The team at The Hair Salon enjoy being creative in their work on a day-to-day basis with their clients, but sometimes it’s good to make time to have fun as a collective and arrange creative days with The Hair Salon team; where we can work together to feel inspired, push our creativity and also gives us the opportunity to create images for hair competitions and build on our portfolios.
Salon owner Oliver Blackaby has worked as an art director for many years, and understands how important it is to create space for everyone to create some beautiful, elevated hair.
Recently we booked a day at Studio by Sea, a beautiful local photographic studio in Brighton, and we had Orsolya Luca with us for the day behind the camera, capturing all our hair looks. Each member of the team got the chance to source a model, pull together an outfit, create a hairstyle and develop an overall look. Ellie, our graduate stylist got her first chance to work with and shoot a model!
To have the whole team together like this is rare and so valuable. It creates a sense of community and creativity. With the help of Alber capturing the behind the scenes videos and photographs, We were lucky to have Zac Campbell-Muir working on makeup and were kept fed and hydrated by T@Hove.

All this hard work certainly paid off as Alfie won the Commercial colour genius in the Colour World Genius Awards this year with his look. A huge congratulations to Alfie – we are very proud to see the trophy back at The Hair Salon in Brighton!
